Continuing the Legacy of Industry Pioneers
October 23, 2024 – Fairless Hills, PA – ALP Supply is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Conasco Plastics, a company whose innovative contributions, led by industry pioneer Jack Cowan who along with our founder "Patt" Patterson, have left a lasting impact on the Precast Concrete Industry. At the forefront of these innovations is Jack Cowan’s development of the void drain, a product that fundamentally transformed precast concrete construction methods and established Conasco Plastics as a key supplier in the industry.
This acquisition not only continues the legacy of Jack Cowan but also honors the significant role he played with Patterson/Cowan Associates. Jack Cowan and "Patt" Patterson had formed a Manufacturers' Rep Organization to jointly represent the leading companies in the Prestress Industry such as Florida Wire and Cable. Together they represented the leading suppliers promoting what was the new method of construction, the Prestressed Concrete Industry. They were both involved in the early formation of the Prestress Concrete Industry which is the leading organization for the industry.
In the early 1960’s when Prestress Box Beams became a new method of construction, Jack Cowan formed Conasco Plastics with the introduction of the Void Drain. This innovation solved an industry problem by helping extend the life of box beams and voided slabs in the industry. Conasco’s products have become essential components in structural applications across the construction sector for over 50 years.
When Jack Cowan decided it was time to transition into retirement, he reached out to ALP Supply who had been distributing his product for over 20 years. He wanted to ensure that the high standards of quality and service set by himself and "Patt" Patterson would be upheld. Customers will now be able to access Conasco Plastics’ trusted products through ALP’s extensive online platform, making it easier to source the materials that drive critical infrastructure projects.
